WORN TYRES ARE A SIGN OF DANGER
Tread wear indicator appear when the tread
has worn down to 1.6 mm. Never use a tyre
even if only ‘one tread wear indicator’
is exposed.
Three important points to be checked
Tread depth
It takes longer to brake on a wet surface when tyres are worn, and there's the risk of hydroplaning.
Damage
Even a small tear can cause a tyre to burst.
Cracks
Check for cracks, especially in the sidewalls.
HYGROPLANING
Driving in the rain with worn tyres is very dangerous!
Rainwater forms a film between the tyre and the surface of the road, lifting the tyre off the road and rendering the steering wheel and brakes ineffective.
IRREGULAR WEAR
Irregular wear occurs when the air pressure is not correct!
Center wear
If the air pressure is too high, it causes excessive wear in the middle of the tread.
Shoulder wear
If the air pressure is too low, it causes excessive wear on both sides of the tread.
ROTATE TYRES REGULARLY
Tyres should be rotated every 5,000 km. to prevent irregular wear and prolong tyre life.
